Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic College

St Joseph’s has a long and rich tradition. In 2008 the School celebrated its centenary. We are very proud of our history, and it is a source of great strength and inspiration, but there has never been a more exciting time at the School. St Joseph’s is determined to offer the very best that Catholic education can provide.
St Joseph’s is a Catholic School and what we offer is different from other secondary schools. Our Catholic Ethos shows in the standards of care we have for each student, in the unique opportunities we provide for spiritual and moral growth and in the chance this gives to live life to the full.
St Joseph’s is also an academic school, and proud to be so. St Joseph’s is one of the top Schools in Bradford in terms of exam results. In 2011 89% of students achieved 5 or more GCSE’s at grades A* - C and 61% included a top grade in both English and Maths in their results. School record results were achieved at both GCSE and A level in 2011, and even better results will be achieved next year.
More than £8m has been spent in recent years to ensure that the beauty of the buildings and grounds is matched by twenty first century equipment and facilities. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and internet access and much has been invested to provide specialist facilities such as a Swimming Pool, Dance Studio and a fully equipped Hair-Dressing Salon and Beauty Therapy Centre.
At St Joseph’s we are proud of the achievements of all our students. Whatever your daughter’s ability, interests or learning needs St Joseph’s has the subjects and choices to ensure her success. Across the first years at the school emphasis is on a broad based education. In the GCSE years, there is the opportunity to choose from a wide range of subjects including Dance, Drama and Vocational options. All these courses lead into the School’s Sixth Form, which is one of the largest in the country.
Some of the most academically gifted students in Bradford study at St Joseph’s. They are able to study the three separate sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE as well as two languages if they wish. They also receive extra opportunities through our gifted and talented programme. It is equally important to us that pupils in need of extra support get the help they need and this is provided by our Special Needs Team.
Providing a range of extra- curricular opportunities is also very important to us. St Joseph’s enjoys an excellent sporting reputation. The Duke of Edinburgh programme is very popular and there is a wide range of opportunities in Dance, Drama and Music. Our Cheerleading Team are national champions.
St Joseph’s is rightly known for the quality of care and support provided to students. This care and support is central to the Catholic ethos of the School. Students are proud to attend the School and their behaviour is excellent. Lessons are not disrupted by the behaviour of the minority.
Transport for our students is carefully planned. Twelve special buses arrive at the School each day from all over Bradford. The students arrive and leave from within the School grounds.
I hope you enjoy browsing our site and we would welcome any comments or suggestions you may have regarding how it can be tailored to further meet your needs.
Yours Faithfully
